Tips for Dressing Properly on the Golf Course

Golf Course

If you’re like most golfers, you want to make a good impression on the course. You want to look professional and polished from head to toe. But sometimes it can be tough to know what to wear. With this in mind, we’ve compiled some tips for dressing properly on the golf course. Whether you’re worried about shoes or trousers, we’ll cover everything for all future Michigan golf trips.

Bottoms

Starting with the lower half, golfers have a few different options depending on personal preference. For men, traditional trousers or khakis are always in style and perfectly acceptable. If you prefer something a little more modern, golf shorts are also an option. Just make sure they’re not too short – you want to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions.

For women, skirts or skorts are popular choices. Again, make sure they’re not too short – you want to be comfortable and confident, not self-conscious. Likewise, traditional trousers will serve you well while tearing up the course.

Tops

As for tops, there are a few different options depending on the season. In the warmer months, golf shirts or polos are perfect. You want something that’s comfortable and breathable so you don’t get too sweaty while chasing that little white ball.

In the cooler months, you’ll want to layer up a bit more; for example, a golf sweater or jacket will do the trick. Just make sure it’s not too bulky – you want to be able to swing your arms freely without feeling restricted. Often, this balance is the most difficult for golfers – you want to be warm while still able to move freely.

Footwear

What about footwear while enjoying Harbor Springs golf? While you might see some people out there in sneakers, we recommend sticking with golf shoes. They provide more traction and stability, which is key when swinging. If you don’t have golf shoes, any kind of athletic shoe will do – just avoid open-toed shoes or sandals.

Accessories

Of course, no outfit is complete without the perfect accessories. For golf, we recommend a visor or hat to keep the sun out of your eyes. In the summer months, don’t forget your sunscreen. Elsewhere, some players like to keep a towel or sweatband handy to wipe away any beads that threaten to trickle down the head.

Colors

As well as actual garments, we also want to touch on colors. In general, it’s best to stick with conservative colors. You want to look professional and refined, not like you’re trying to make a fashion statement. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with a little bit of personality (just look at Ian Poulter!). If you want to add a pop of color, do so with a belt, shoes, or hat.

Summary

There you have it – a few quick and easy tips to help you look your best on the golf course. Clothing may not make the player, but it can certainly affect their game. So dress to impress and you’ll be sure to make a great impression both on and off the course. Have fun out there!
